So Sad Show

The pandemic has really taken its toll on American life over the past eighteen months and the bi-annual national Volvo show at Gettysburg, PA was no exception.

We day-tripped from Philadelphia to Gettysburg that sunny Saturday morning for the public portion of the show and were shocked to see how many show cars were not in attendance.

Scheduling during the Labor Day holiday weekend may have been a factor but we are still thinking that many enthusiasts were just not yet sold on being in a crowd.

So, there was no general public crowd walking through aisles and aisles of cars- old and new.

Having missed the deadline for showing ENIGMA due to our Covid-Crowd-Hesitance (not vaccine hesitancy as we were all vaccinated ages ago) our car was relegated to the public parking lot along with about 20 other show-quality cars which decided to come after all and were refused late registration entry, as well.

So, there were few cars being shown.

We spent exactly 35 minutes walking around the few cars that had been registered before the deadline, bought some bling from both of the bling vendors who did show up and left at noon for lunch. We did grab a quick photo of the gold 1974 Volvo 164E in the lede image on the way out.

We also spent a few seconds with the Irv Gordon P1800S which was driven over 3 million miles before Irv passed away.
