The last time we were here in the Virgin Islands stories were just beginning to show up on television about a virus spreading in a small city in China. We really didn’t pay much attention to that news.
This trip, however, was a reflection of just how big the virus story had become over the past eighteen or so months.
Negative five day PCR tests and proof of vaccination were required in order to receive the equivalent of an entry visa complete with a QR code and tracking from the Territory government. Boarding the airplane in Philadelphia had the same requirement and came with surly flight attendants who seemed to enjoy being belligerent with passengers all the way to the islands at no additional cost to us.
The view from the house near Ram’s Head quickly erased the travel experience and just like before I would rather feel bad here than to feel bad in Philadelphia.
